Amy Hendrickson has been a cornerstone of the floral industry for over 40 years. Her journey began with simple bud vases crafted from fresh cuts on her grandmother's farm, blossoming into a career filled with creating some of the most magical weddings featured in Oprah, People, and many other prestigious outlets. Amy's keen eye and creative hand in design have consistently left clients and guests in awe, making every event and floral arrangement a masterpiece.

Amy's passion lies in custom floral work, weddings, and the behind-the-scenes magic that brings events to life. While she has passed many of her day-to-day projects to her daughters, Abbey and Amanda, her influence and signature style remain the heart of everything produced at the store. Her organic approach to design keeps her work fresh, original, and forever imaginative.

Beyond her professional life, Amy cherishes time spent with her beloved dog, Hobbs, her children, grandchildren, and close friends. Her dedication to family and her natural flair for floral artistry continue to inspire everyone around her, ensuring her legacy blooms for generations to come.

Abbey is the backbone of the store—handling all the ordering, designing countless custom pieces, and keeping everything running smoothly day in and day out. She grew up in the flower shop alongside Amanda, learning the ropes from their mom, Amy, and developing a deep love for floral design. But when it came time for college, she chose a different path, pursuing a degree in radiology and loving the work she did. Still, something inside her always itched to follow in her mom’s footsteps.

That pull didn’t turn into reality until after she met Chris and they started their family. It was then that she realized her true passion wasn’t just in flowers—it was in building something of her own, a family farm and retail shop where she could create, grow, and continue the legacy she had always been a part of. Moving back to Elk Rapids, Abbey and Chris found the perfect place to plant their roots, and Golden Hill Farms took off. She stepped into leadership next to Amy, and together, they turned their vision into a thriving business.

Abbey and Chris now grow all the flowers at their home property—meaning the work never really stops. But somehow, she balances it all with ease, making the impossible look effortless. When she’s not juggling a million things at once, you can find her and the crew out on the pontoon, soaking up the sunshine with country music playing and a well-earned drink in hand.

Amanda has been immersed in the world of flowers her entire life, growing up in her mother’s flower shop and learning the art of floral design from an early age. With a natural eye for beauty and a love for creativity, she has always found joy in curating stunning arrangements and connecting with customers.

As Golden Hill Farms began to take shape, it felt like the perfect time to step alongside Abbey and bring their shared vision to life. From designing florals to managing sales, inventory, local projects & community events, and the online presence, Amanda wears many hats—ensuring that both the in-store experience and digital presence reflect the heart of the business. She thrives on the balance of working hands-on in the shop, helping in the garden, and growing Golden Hill Farms into something truly special.

Alongside the family business, Amanda and the love of her life, Eric, live on the Dean cherry and hemp farm with their family and, of course, their two golden retrievers. They take pride in growing their own food at home, believing deeply in the gift of the land—the ability to grow, build, and live in a way that honors nature and community.

If something at Golden Hill Farms needs fixing, lifting, mowing, or moving, Chris Cooper is your guy. As the man behind the muscle (and Abbey’s husband), he’s either on the tractor or riding the mower, making sure the grounds are in top shape while the rest of us are busy dreaming up more work for him.

Chris has a special talent for keeping up with a team of women full of big ideas and bigger plans, all while rocking a smile, a hat, and a Miller Lite. When he’s not making the farm look flawless, you’ll find him out on the boat, hunting, fishing, grilling or smoking up dinner, or hanging with friends. He loves getting the kids involved with the farm, passing down his skills (and maybe his mower someday). Whether he’s handling the heavy lifting or cracking jokes, Chris keeps the farm running smoothly—and keeps us all laughing while he’s at it.

Scott has been part of the flower shop dream since day one, bringing Amy’s many projects to life with his skill, dedication, and hands-on approach. If something needed to be built, fixed, or figured out, Scott was the one to make it happen—turning big ideas into reality time and time again.

Though he and Amy are no longer a duo, their friendship (and his never-ending to-do list) is still going strong. Always just a call away, Scott is the guy behind the scenes making sure things run smoothly—whether it's tackling shop projects, crossing off tasks for the girls, or stepping in wherever needed. You’ll often spot him at events, pouring brews, mixing up Bloody Marys, or jumping into a floral class for fun. And when the gardens need all hands on deck? He’s out there, too, helping keep everything in bloom.

Reliable, hardworking, and always up for a good time, Scott is an essential part of Golden Hill Farms—because every great flower shop needs a guy who can build, fix, and make a mean cocktail.

Michael has always been a source of unwavering support, reminding Amy of her dream and encouraging it every step of the way. A true jack-of-all-trades, he’s a constant presence at the store—offering a helping hand, tackling handyman projects, and making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes. From handling daily garbage pickup and recycling to assisting with website building and capturing stunning photographs, his contributions are felt in more ways than one. But Michael’s role goes far beyond just helping out. He never drives past the store without stopping in to say hi, checking in on the day, sharing cookies with the kids, or dropping off a slice of bacon—because, well, why not? His kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to jump in wherever needed have made him an irreplaceable part of our world. With a heart as big as his talent, Michael has become more than just a supporter of Golden Hill Farms—he’s family. We’re beyond grateful for everything he does, and we can’t imagine this journey without him.

For our nearly 40 years in business, if you’vee been a part of our journey, you’ve witnessed Nana’s quiet strength and constant presence. She was everywhere — in the gardens, carefully cutting flowers; in the kitchen, preparing meals to nourish us; cleaning vases and sweeping floors; reloading batteries in candles (no matter how tedious); and always, always holding babies with love in her arms. Her hands never rested, and neither did her heart. For us, and for so many who knew her, she was truly a superhero.

But even superheroes, as much as we wish they could, don’t stay forever.

Her presence, though, will always be woven into the fabric of who we are. She will live on in the gardens she tended, in the flowers she wrapped, and in every piece of our family’s work.

Nana was the heart of this family — the reason we are able to work side by side every day, and why we cherish each moment we get to share with you. The values she instilled, her love, and her wisdom will continue to guide us.

We will carry her with us in everything we do, honoring her legacy with the same love and dedication she showed every day.

When it came time to name our farm, it didn’t take long to realize we had to honor our beloved golden herd. For years, this pack of seven spirited pups ran wild and free across the fields of Golden Hill Farm, bringing joy, laughter, and a whole lot of fur to every corner of the land.

Meet the crew: Gerdie, the fearless leader with a heart of gold; Emme, the gentle soul who always found the sunniest spot to nap; Yeti, originally from New York, our adventurous spirit who's always out and about exploring; Izzy, the dedicated hunting dog who doubles as our beloved shop dog; Maci, the shy sweetheart who prefers to stick around the Bad Manners Ranch; Josie, the playful spirit with endless energy; and Hobbs, Amy’s loyal sidekick, who’s still stealing hearts one wag at a time.

Our pack is now down to six, as our sweet Gerdie girl has passed on. But if you’re wondering about future additions, it’s safe to say you’ll only ever see golden dogs joining this family. These golden-hearted pups are more than just farm dogs—they’re family. Their boundless love and joyful energy are woven into the very fabric of Golden Hill Farm, reminding us every day to live with the same enthusiasm, loyalty, and zest for life. The farm wouldn’t be the same without them, and neither would we.

Eric is a full-time farmer, dedicated to growing both cherries and hemp—two things we consider essential! His passion for farming runs deep, and his hard work shows in everything he does. While you won’t find him in the shop often (unless he’s dropping off fresh Lakeland Hemp products), he’s constantly behind the scenes, sharing his love for nature and pushing us to grow smarter. Whether it’s improving soil health, refining farming practices, or finding better ways to grow our own food, Eric is always learning and striving to be the best at what he does.

He’s Amanda’s other half and truly completes the family circle. From long days in the fields to late nights helping the family put together our next big event, Eric’s dedication and work ethic are a big part of what keeps everything running smoothly. We’re lucky to have him on our team—and in our family!
